Pastor Clarke's Bio
Pastor David Anthony Clarke, Sr. was born in Flint, Michigan on July 5, 1967 to the late Mr. Fred F. Clarke, Sr. and Mrs. Modessa R. Clarke. Pastor Clarke enlisted in the U.S.. Marines, served on active duty for over 12 years, and was honorably discharged at the rank of Staff Sergeant (E6) in 1998. He began preaching in June of 1990 while stationed in Okinawa, Japan. He has been serving in his third pastorate as the Senior Pastor of the Union Grove Missionary Baptist Church (UGMBC) of Warner Robins, GA, also known as "The Grove Zone", since October of 2002.
Under his dynamic, visionary leadership at Union Grove, the membership has experienced significant growth to over 650 members, the full-time and part-time staff has expanded, numerous leaders have been elevated, and several exciting life-changing ministries have been implemented. The church has purchased residential and commercial properties to include the "Vision Center", a 7500 sq. ft. banquet hall w/full commercial kitchen. During Clarke's tenure Union Grove has partnered with the Warner Robins Housing Authority to initiate a community garden. Foreign missions teams have conducted health clinics and worship services in Ghana, West Africa. Clarke re-engineered the UGMBC organizational structure to include an Assistant Pastor and Elders to assist in decision making and oversight of UGMBC ministry efforts.
A powerful speaker, Pastor Clarke has served as keynote speaker, provided motivational speeches and/or spiritual support for several organizations to include the Georgia Christian Business Network, Georgia Dept. of Labor, City of Warner Robins, Albany State University, Ft. Valley State University, and Johnson C. Smith University. Clarke preaches regularly in local prisons, and has ministered in Japan, Haiti, and West Africa. The Georgia Informer has repeatedly recognized Pastor Clarke as one of Houston County's most outstanding preachers. In 2005, the Ross Report Partners in Progress of Atlanta, GA honored him as Man of the Year.
In July of 2005, Pastor Clarke released his first book, Starting Over: Five Keys To A New Direction In Life. His second book, Are There Any Questions?, was released on March 30, 2012. Clarke has also written several book reviews for the National Baptist Voice magazine. His Enjoy the Journey blog and e-newsletter reaches multitudes around the world.
Pastor Clarke received an Associate of Science degree in Business from Barstow Community College of Barstow, California in 1998. In January of 2005, he graduated from Bellevue University of Bellevue, Nebraska with a Bachelor of Arts in Leadership and received his Master of Science in Organizational Performance in March 2011.
One of Pastor Clarke's greatest passions is serving as an adjunct professor at THE Ft. Valley State University in Ft. Valley, GA. He enthusiastically teaches Leadership, Organizational Theory & Behavior, and Business Communications courses.
Pastor Clarke married the former Michelle Wilson of Beaufort, SC in May 1988. They have three wonderful children, Janelle, Tenisha, and David II.
